For those of you who find memes like this ‘fun’ they’re actually a form of bullying and it’s not nice!
One woman who has recently fallen victim to these horrible memes is Lizzie Velasquez, who was born with a rare congenital disease that prevents her body from gaining any weight, as well as being diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome.
This poor 27-year-old may not be what society classes as a good-looking woman, but she didn’t deserve to be ridiculed as she has been.
She came across a meme of herself on social media which had the words: “Michael said he would meet me behind this tree for a bit of fun.
“He’s running late, would someone please tag him and tell him I’m still waiting?” sprawled across it.
To some this may seem like a little bit of harmless fun, but to Lizzie it was extremely hurtful and uncalled for.
She decided to share the meme with her 100,000 followers on Facebook…
Lizzie’s post gained over 95,000 likes with many people commenting to offer their support, including her mother, who wrote: “As Lizzie’s mom this hurts beyond words. But I stand with you to say spread love PLEASE. Love you Lizzie!”
Please share this story to try and spread awareness of the bullying that’s happening like this to many disadvantaged people.
